Last week, Le Monde delivered an interesting piece of content about the migration crisis in Europe. They created a fictional Whatsapp-like conversation to personify the debate between European leaders.

This narrative option is not new (see this other article from Le Monde or this Q&A format by L’Express), but I find it to be more effective when the issue is highly polarized and the characters are clearly identified.

Interestingly, the format was first designed for Le Monde’s Snapchat Discover channel and was then reused for the website. That’s another reminder of how their 7-person team is doing an amazing job at boosting the newspaper’s visual storytelling. Good to see their expertise gradually expanding out of Snapchat!
