There’s no shortage of opportunities for telling stories creatively online: photos, videos, interactivity, social media, mobile experiences… Yet all to often, online news can be boring.

Cluttered websites, lookalike articles, duplicate reports from agency wires: the list of bad examples goes on. Even the most innovative news brands can sometimes fail at delivering information in a straightforward way. Datajournalism — once the great saviour of the sector — doesn’t always live up to its promise, with tons of numbers crammed under intimidating interfaces.

Let’s be clear, the format will never make up for a lousy message. But the right format can make some good content truly shine. Hopefully, a lot of digital journalists are now doing outstanding work, combining altogether creativity, editorial insight and a user-centered focus. Who am I?

I’m Maxime Loisel and I curate News Porn.

I’m 24 and I’m passionate about the media industry and the current challenges surrounding journalism and the news business. I’m especially interested in the creative and design strategies of news publishers.

I’m based in Paris where I work as a Project Manager at Datagif, a digital creative agency. I’ve worked for 2 years as a Mobile Product Manager at Le Figaro, France’s leading digital news publisher.

I’m a graduate in UX Design & Digital Project Management from GOBELINS Paris and from Sciences Po Rennes (M.A. in Media Management) in 2017.
